The Austrian Aviation Medicine Institute is an association of aeromedical examiners, aviation psychologists, medical specialists and aviation professionals working to create, deliver and support aerospace medicine training. AAMI’s goal is to deliver core knowledge to train AMEs of the next generation. Our courses are structured to train physicians and mental health specialists to meet the demands of the civil aviation authorities, the aviation industry and upcoming aerospace missions.
Our focus is on the application of aviation medicine best practice in support of pilots, flight engineers, mission specialists, cabin crew and air traffic controllers.
Flight safety is our key mission and the driving force behind all we do.
Training in Aviation Medicine
As per EASA regulations, training courses in aviation medicine referred to in MED.D.010(b) and MED.D.015(c) shall only be provided after the prior approval of the course by Austro Control GmbH, the competent authority of the member State, Austria, where the training organization, Austrian Aerospace Medicine Institute, has its principal place of business.
Training organization
Austrian Aerospace Medicine Institute– AAMI, a subsidiary of AeMC Salzburg and OrthoTeam Salzburg GmbH.
Requirements
To obtain regulatory approval, the training organization, AAMI, shall demonstrate that the course syllabus contains the learning objectives to impart the necessary competencies and that the faculty have adequate knowledge of the subject matter and applicable clinical experience.
Except in the case of refresher training, the courses shall be concluded by a written examination on the subjects included in the course content.
The training organization, AAMI, shall issue a certificate of competency to participants when they have met the training requirements and have passed the examination of a basic or advanced course in aviation medicine and or attended an accredited refresher training course.

Registration open for the
3rd Salzburg Aerospace Medicine Seminar October 18th and 19th, 2024
We are pleased to announce the opening of registraton for the the 3rd Salzburg Aerospace Medicine Seminar to be held from October 18th to 19th, 2024. The venue will be at Salzburg Airport. Our speakers will include specialists form medical fields, aviaton psychology, aviaton and space medicine, general, commercial and military aviaton, air sports, air traffic control, and CRM training. Several speakers will be presentng live online from the United States, all other speakers will present live in Salzburg. The meetng will be technically supported to enable both an onsite meetng as well as online partcipaton.
Due to requests for partcipaton from across Europe, Arabia and the US, the conference language will be English with Q&A sessions in English and German.
Our AME Wingman’s dinner will offer the opportunity to connect with friends and colleagues, to share stories and experiences and to share our love of aviaton. Our friends at the Flying Bulls have organized a special tour of Hangars 7 and 8 and will share their treasures with us again this year.
We would like to express a huge THANK YOU to our faculty for their support of aviaton medicine. Many have presented at the meetngs in 2019 and 2022. We sincerely appreciate your wilingness to share your knowledge and experience and to make yourselves available to our AviMed community. This AME refresher training has been submitted for accreditaton with CME DFP points to the Salzburger Ärztekammer and for accreditaton by Austro Control.

Bitte bringen Sie sämtliche relevanten medizinischen Befunde mit, welche Sie zur Verfügung haben.
Alle Piloten, die kommerziell Passagiere befördern benötigen ein Tauglichskeitszeugnis der Klasse 1.
Dazu gehören u.a. Linienpiloten.
Alle Piloten, die ein komplexes Flugzeug fliegen und nicht kommerziell Passagiere befördern benötigen ein Tauglichskeitszeugnis der Klasse 2
Tauglichkeitszeugnis der Klasse 3 für Flugsicherung
Tauglichkeitsuntersuchungen der Klasse 1 sind meist 1 Jahr gültig.
Tauglichkeitsuntersuchungen der Klasse 2 und LAPL sind meist 5 Jahre bis zu einem Alter von 40 gültig, danach zunächst nur noch 2 Jahre.
